Reflections

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You did have an interesting topic that did connect to the entire play. It is interesting to see where the play generated from and the influence of the superstitions on the lives of people then and still today. It was neat to see how you were ale to put it into a power point as well. The visual aspect helps the class understand. :)

1. Please explain why you chose the method of presentation that you did? We chose the method of power point because it is easy to work off. You can connect things and find information. You can also paste pictures along the side of the facts to show exactly what you mean. This method has both visual learner as well as reader learner.
2.What were your influences for this presentation? The influences for this presentation were resources off the internet. My group found a youtube clip of another Macbeth project and thought it related well to our topic. We connected and related the internet facts of our project.
3. Was this presentation any different then past presentations? Please explain. This presentation was harder in the fact that we had to not only find a ton of information but also connect it to a play. However, this presentation helped me understand the play better because we had to do a lot of research and we got more information and learned more and different facts about Macbeth.
4. Was this presentation any more challenging or was it easier than past presentations? Please explain.
5. Do you find yourself writing more on your private blog or on the class blog? Please explain.

Today I learned that the witchcraft in Macbeth played a very important role in the play. The witchcraft was a big part of the play, Macbeth was controlled by it. This is working for me because it is easier to find information and you get a bigger amount of facts on your specific topic. I like this method because it seems quicker and easier to research things about your general idea. I get a better understanding of using the internet as well as can see what I am looking for and visualize the play better.

Act 1 Scene 7

I chose this act because it is where Macbeth leaves the grand banquet he is holding in honour of Duncan. Macbeth needed the time to think about what he was going to do, killing his king. Macbeth didn't want to have to murder Duncan. I chose this act because I liked the way Macbeth tried to stand up to Lady Macbeth because he knew what the right thing was to do in the end. Macbeth wanted the throne but was appalled at the thought of killing his king. He didn't want to kill but Lady Macbeth tried to force him to. Lady Macbeth accuses Macbeth of being a coward and questions his masculinity. She also accused him of being passionate about killing Duncan and that he lost it. A promise is a promise to be valued. By getting the king's chamber guards drunk Macbeth has a perfect ability. This act was the most interesting to me because Macbeth finally thought of what he was doing and questioned it. But then Lady Macbeth steps in and persuades him to do what she thought was better and in the end they would gain more power by killing the king.

The differences you saw between the movie and the reading, scences 1,2,3.

What was easier and what was more challenging and why?

Which one do you think you prefer and why?

The differences I saw between the movie and the reading of Macbeth were the book describes more of what is happening, compared to the movie visually showing you everything with some of the important speech involved with it. In the book, although Macbeth was killing people he didn’t seem scared to die himself. When he killed someone in the movie he seemed more afraid and scared then how they portrayed him in the book. For myself I thought the reading was slightly easier because I could make up the scence in my head and picture how the characters are playing the roles. Although I did think that it was easy to have the scences acted out right infront of you in the movie. You got to see more of the characters and how their emotions came out. For example, how Macbeth killed the king and how in the movie he seemed very nervous. I think I prefer the movie because it is way more interesting and easier to understand their speeches. Also, in the movie they act out more of the book then actually saying it. Reading the book you have to focus more on the words. In the movie you get to listen aswell as focus on the scence and the visual part. You can look at the characters and their faces when they are doing things.(Macbeths face and how he felt when he killed the king.) The movie is all infront of you and you just watch and listen to the dialects. The book you have to understand the words and the way they speak.

I don't really know much about Macbeth, although I know it is written by William Shakespeare. I know of William Shakespeare because he wrote many different plays example: Romeo & Juliet. I studied the play, "Romeo & Juliet" in grade 9 English class. I was really interested in the play because I had never learned about it. I really like the love story of Romeo & Juliet and how they fight for their love and in the end found a better way, to them to save their relationship by committing suicide. I thought this play had a good story line and explained a realistic bond between two people that could actually happen.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the class. It is interesting that you said power is the place people have in life. What is place? Is knowledge place? . I like how you began to see how it connected to your short story. Do you think the General's knowledge actually led to his downfall? What happens if you have too much power? These are just some ideas to think about.

Homework Assignment:

Something that stood out in Thursday's class was the Power presentations. In both Power presentations the groups mentioned that power is not only your strength. Power also shows the position in your life, where you stand on your power scale. Power is the way you are. I noticed this reminded me on how the story "The Most Dangerous Game," reveals the people's power. The hunters power of threatening to get his way. Also, having loads of money allowing him to do whatever he wants and whenever he wants to do it. Related to corruption and getting what you want.(Status in life.) I learned that power isn't everything but its a huge part of who you are and how you succed in life.
I really enjoyed the class and how we worked together as a group, and able to work with who we wanted. Working with your friends makes public speaking easier:)
